The Dynamics of Brain– Body–Environment Systems: A Status Report

چکیده
The history of science can often be characterized as a sequence of revolutions and reactions. The birth of cognitive science can be traced to the cognitive revolution of the mid-20th century, which was a reaction against the behaviorist revolution of the early 20th century. Behaviorism in turn was a reaction to the introspectionist tradition of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. More recently, the connectionist revolution was a reaction to some of the symbolic assumptions of the computational core of cognitive science. In the mid-1980s, just as mainstream cognitive science was becoming aware of connectionism, two new ideas appeared on the intellectual landscape: situatedness and embodiment. These were quickly followed in the early 1990s by a third: dynamics. Broadly speaking, situatedness concerns the role played in an agent’s behavior by its ongoing interactions with its immediate environment. Embodiment, in contrast, concerns the role of the physical properties of an agent’s body in its behavior. Finally, dynamical approaches emphasize the temporal dimension of behavior, seeking to apply the concepts and tools of dynamical systems theory to the analysis of agents. Of course, none of these ideas are really new. As is often the case in science, they each had important historical 6

Global Stabilization of Attitude Dynamics: SDRE-based Control Laws
The State-Dependant Riccati Equation method has been frequently used to design suboptimal controllers applied to nonlinear dynamic systems. Different methods for local stability analysis of SDRE controlled systems of order greater than two such as the attitude dynamics of a general rigid body have been extended in literature; however, it is still difficult to show global stability properties of...
متن کاملDynamics of Macro–Nano Mechanical Systems; Fixed Interfacial Multiscale Method
The continuum based approaches don’t provide the correct physics in atomic scales. On the other hand, the molecular based approaches are limited by the length and simulated process time. As an attractive alternative, this paper proposes the Fixed Interfacial Multiscale Method (FIMM) for computationally and mathematically efficient modeling of solid structures. The approach is applicable to mult...

Background and Importance: Coronavirus 19 is caused by the SARS-COV-2 virus. The primary target of the virus is the respiratory system, but it can also affect other systems of the body, such as the cardiovascular system and the Central Nervous System )CNS). Case Presentation: In this study, we introduce an 83-year-old man who referred due to reduced level of consciousness and hemiparesis ...
متن کاملDynamics of Space Free-Flying Robots with Flexible Appendages
A Space Free-Flying Robot (SFFR) includes an actuated base equipped with one or more manipulators to perform on-orbit missions. Distinct from fixed-based manipulators, the spacecraft (base) of a SFFR responds to dynamic reaction forces due to manipulator motions. In order to control such a system, it is essential to consider the dynamic coupling between the manipulators and the base. Explicit d...
متن کاملA review on EEG based brain computer interface systems feature extraction methods
The brain – computer interface (BCI) provides a communicational channel between human and machine. Most of these systems are based on brain activities. Brain Computer-Interfacing is a methodology that provides a way for communication with the outside environment using the brain thoughts. The success of this methodology depends on the selection of methods to process the brain signals in each pha...
